Microsoft Digital literacy/ ICDL

You can get a "symbolic" certificate for free. Nevertheless, it is not recognized. Because the identity of the candidate is not sure since the test happens with no controllers ( another reason is that you can modify the URL after passing one test to print several certificates with all the names you like. This last one was not said on the pase of micorosoft here above but i tested it, and it works.) The test is generally too easy to check out whether the cadidate has an enough knowledge of the computer. The name "digital literacy" is the right name.

http://www.microsoft.com/about/corporatecitizenship/citizenship/giving/programs/up/digitalliteracy/ara/Curriculum.mspx

If you are interested in a more serious recognized certificate, you can try the ECDL/ICDL certificatate. But it is not for free. It tests 7 modules. Personally, i believe it tests well your computer skills. However it is not aimed for the advanced users. With that certificate you proove that you can "drive" problemless the computer (microsoft based pc's).

http://www.ecdl.com/publisher/index.jsp?1nID=93&2nID=161&nID=162

(Sorry for my bad English )
