في اللغة العربية، و في كل اللغات اللتي نزل فيها الوحي الإلامي، كثيرة التعابير ذات الطابع الديني.
ليست الهولندية لغة نزل فيها الوحي الإلامي وبلجيكة مجتمع علماني.
غير أن نصرانية مسيحية لعبت دورا هاما في البلدان الأوروبية وفي اللغات الأوروبية وفي الهولندية أيضا تعابيرا ذات الطابع الديني، مثل

Jesus/Jesus lief!
Dat de duivel hem hale!
هذه التعابير قد تفقد تصمينها الديني والدين يلعب دورا صغيرا في المجتمع البلجيكي الجديد. وبالتالي التعابير دات الطابع الديني أصغر دورانا على ألسنة الناس.
