Arab Academy For Science, Technology & Maritime Transport
Being committed to its community, the first thing AASTMT is concerned with is to offer distinguished educational, training and research services.
Surveying the achievement during the period 1999 and the beginning of the new Millennium, we first mark this date in our records: September 99,where the academy attained the ISO 9001 from the highest certification body world wide, the D.N.V. after developing and implementing its quality assurance system covering programs of studies leading to the B.Sc. Degree in the Academy's 4 colleges: the college of Maritime Transport and Technology, the college of Engineering and Technology, the College of Management and Technology, and the College of Computing and Information Technology
Because of the future demands of the increasing number of AASTMT's graduates all over the world, the academy has begun offering higher diplomas and M.Sc. degrees in the specializations available in its colleges, a step that truly makes of the coming stage one of higher studies.
In order to support higher education, two new entities have been established, first of which is the Advanced Management Institute, which aims at providing distinguished higher study courses that conform with the needs and circumstances of professionals and businessman, in addition to what it offers of training, research and consultation services. The second entity is the Institute of Productivity and Quality, which plays the role of enhancing the relationship with industry, through the various programs available and the training and consultation services offered to industrial companies, in order to help them reach required level to achieve ISO 9000. One of the P&Q Institute's achievements is that it offered consultation to General Motors Egypt which qualified it to attain the ISO 9001.
Stressing the Academy's concern in providing the latest of technologies and simulators, the College of Maritime Transport & Technology has been provided with the Integrated Simulator Complex, which is used in training on different forms of ship maneuvering and also in the protection of marine environment from pollution. This simulator is worth US $ 12 million and adds to the Academy's account US $ 25 million external support from Japan.
for a long time the standard by which the efficiency of the educational process has been judged is the ratio of lecturers to students, However, another factor is now present, which is the ratio of computers to students. According to these two factors the Academy is considered one of the most advanced universities, as the ratio in both tracks is 1:10.
Sensing its responsibilities as an Arab League specialized organization, and a means of joint Arab work, the AASTMT's endeavours to improve international relations for the benefit of its students and programs never cease. Hence, it extends its services to the Arab world through offering some programs in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Moreover, new branches of the Academy were established in United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, in addition to the new branch in Cairo.
The Academy, paves the way for its students to achieve their educational goals and ambitions by providing student-hostels equipped with recreational facilities, in addition to a gymnasium. Meanwhile, the work has been completed in the Olympic swimming pool that serves the Maritime Safety Dept. This addition, along with the gymnasium, make the Academy an integrated Olympic village where Arab federations and sporting clubs can make use of the available facilities.
The Academy has made great strides towards implementing and integrated information-system and training personal to offer good services.
