The essay will proceed the discussion in three sections (stages), the first: the reliability of IQ test to measure intelligence, this will show the area that IQ test measures and will clarify which ability IQ test tests. Secondly: the validity of IQ test being a significant method to examine the real intelligence without regard to potential difficulties.<O
***
One of the main arguments against IQ test being meaningful to measure intelligence is unreliability. According to the conceiving of the IQ tests fields there are conflicting views about what IQ test actually measures, some researchers suggest that IQ test only examine a person’s ability to take the test (Cohen, 1991).<O
This has been supported by the idea of being familiar with the test’s questions , or being trained to take IQ exams, for example when someone has taken IQ tests several times, eventually he will score better grades than he scored in the first time (Rawat,2001).<O
However, as Kline states (cited in: Cohen, 1991), this idea is not accurate because intelligence is a significance part of the mental and psychological structure of the human brain. Furthermore, there are various styles to formulate IQ questions. They are always changing and the answers are unpredictable. As Spearman determine: intelligence can be measured by testing several areas of brain’s ability, such as verbal aptitude, mathematical aptitude and spatial visualization, or as some researchers like to call “multiple intelligences” (Gottfredson, 2004).<O
From this, it can clearly be seen what kind of ability IQ test can measure. It is not the ability to take the exams; it measures real intelligence. Thus, IQ test is a reliable method of measuring intelligence.<O
In addition, some researchers criticize about IQ test being useful to measure intelligence by considering IQ test as an invalid way to measure intelligence. They claimed, that true intelligence cannot be measured while it has been influenced by many factors, such as poverty, violence, fear and lack of heath care. (Rawat, 2001)
<OMoreover, most of IQ tests are cultural based, requiring information might be unknown to some of the exams takers, this makes IQ tests an invalid method to measure intelligence. (Rawat, 2001)<O
For example, when the emigration movement started in early twentieth century towards America, the first thing the immigrants had to do is taking tests which were based on the American history, while these immigrants just have been arrived. (Rawat, 2001)<O
In spite of these factors, IQ test is measuring real intelligence, because it is examine the brain’s potentials and abilities to deal with variable situations, how to solve problems and proceed under pressure. (Gottfredson, 2004) .
<O
Besides, these factors have no actual impact on intelligence, because the real intelligence will emerge in the most difficult circumstances. For instance, when Japan lost in the World War Two there was violence, fear, poverty and bad health situation. Although , Japan turned to be one of the most Civilized and developed country in the twentieth and twenty first century. Furthermore, the geniuses, inventors, creators and scientists come from all over the world, especially from poor areas such as: Africa and India creating what so called: brains immigration.<O
Therefore, the main target of IQ test is measuring the brain’s ability to deal with complexity and speed responding for surrounding incidents which makes IQ tests valid way to measure real intelligence. (Gottfredson, 2004) <O

The role of the intelligence measurement is a subject of much debate. The concept of intelligence test is under discussion whether is it meaningful or not. This concept is known as IQ , or “intelligence quotient” which means: the “measure of an individual’s intelligence obtained through standardized intelligence test” (Babylon, 8).
This essay will consider this controversial issue with respect to some of the main factors, which will clarify the benefits of IQ tests and will show that the benefits far outweigh the disadvantage. The essay will proceed the discussion in three sections (stages), the first: the reliability of IQ test to measure intelligence, this will show the area that IQ test measures and will clarify which ability IQ test tests.
