قال في لسان العرب (سلخ):
(("سَلَخَ" الإِهابَ يَسْلُخه ويَسْلَخه سَلْخاً: كَشَطه. و "السَّلْخ": ما سُلِخَ عنه .. ومِسْلاخ الحية وسَلْخَتها: جِلْدَتها التي تَنْسَلِخُ عنها. وقد سَلَخَتِ الحيةُ تسلَخُ سَلْخاً، وكذلك كل دابة تَنْسَرِي من جِلْدَتها كاليُسْرُوعِ ونحوه .. و "السِّلْخ" بالكسر: الجِلْد. و "السالخ": الأَسْوَدُ من الحيات شديدُ السواد وأَقْتَلُ ما يكون من الحيات إِذا سَلَخَت جِلْدَها ... وسَلَخَ الحَرُّ جلدَ الإِنسان وسَلَّخه فانْسَلَخ وتَسَلَّخ)). اهـ
